Karol G and her 'Bichota' style star in this summer's 'Fortnite Festival'

Months after a leak hinted at a collaboration between Epic Games and Karol G, the Colombian singer-songwriter took to social media to confirm that she will star in its “Fortnite Festival” spin-off game.

The August 16 debut will feature the participation of the reggaeton and urban pop artist, who previewed her project with Epic Games through its platforms with a video showing a portable stereo adorned with stickers from the popular video game. A hand appears from the side and takes out a cassette with the legend “Fortnite x Karol G” written on the top.

“This is so amazing!” the note on the video says, with Spanish text below indicating that something amazing is coming.

The collaboration, confirmed by Epic Games, is the first time a Latin music artist has been the face of the spin-off game, which features costumes, accessories and a virtual concert.

“Fortnite Festival” is a rhythm-based game set in its original title “Fortnite.” Players perform songs from within the title’s extensive catalog. In previous iterations, artists such as Billie Eilish, J Balvin, and Lady Gaga They were designed as playable sets with many of her top hits included as soundtracks. Like its predecessors, some of the Colombian artist’s songs will also be added to the “Fortnite Festival” music library, including tracks like “Qlona” and “Cairo.”

According to Epic Games, Karol G’s concert will highlight songs from the Latin Grammy winner in a five-part series in bright, “neon-drenched” locations. Those who attend the limited-time event, between August 23 and 26, will also receive a “Bichota”-inspired 4-string bass accessory.

This virtual event will add Karol G to the list of musicians, alongside Ariana Grande and Travis Scott, who had their image animated in “Fortnite” as part of an interactive concert.

Other virtual accessories based on the singer will also be included and can be purchased in the virtual store. Players will be able to purchase dances, known as emotes, with names based on her hit music videos.

The reggaeton singer's “Fortnite” announcement comes after she recently completed a international tour to promote their fourth studio album “Tomorrow Will Be Beautiful.” His music has played a role, along with that of other musicians, in making the Latin genre one of the fastest growing on streaming platforms. He previously confirmed with Vogue Spain who is working on her fifth studio album.
