Elon Musk is facing criticism for violating social media platform X's policies after sharing a Kamala Harris parody video on his X account.

Earlier on Friday, Tesla's CEO reposted an AI-generated campaign video of the newly elected Democratic candidate saying some controversial things about President Joe Biden.

The video was originally posted by Mr. Reagan. It begins with the newly minted Democratic Party candidate thanking Biden for “exposing his senility.” NYT reported

Musk is under fire for his post lacking a disclaimer, though Reagan uploaded the video and called it a “parody,” while the SpaceX CEO wrote: “This is awesome, with a laughing emoji.”

Additionally, internet personality Alex Howard posted on X and called the video a violation of the social media platform's policies.

“This is a violation of X’s policies on synthetic media and deceptive identities. Are you going to retroactively change them to allow violations in an election year?” he posted.

Previously, in April 2023, X updated its policy on misleading content. The policy mentioned that if the platform defines content as “significantly and misleadingly altered, manipulated, or fabricated and likely to cause widespread confusion about public issues, it should be labeled or removed.”

Harris, on the other hand, declared in her campaign: “The American people want the true freedom, opportunity and security that Vice President Harris offers, not the false and manipulated lies of Elon Musk and Donald Trump.”
