To the editor: I read with alarm that people are throwing away Christmas wrapping, ribbons, bows, bags and boxes, clogging trash bins and landfills. I urge you not to do it. (“Mountains of Christmas food and packaging waste are clogging landfills. Is there a better way?” December 31)
My family and I save the bags, ribbons, bows, boxes, and sometimes even the wrapping paper and tissues to use again. I lightly iron the fabric, which makes it look new.
There is no reason why we can’t all save these items to use again. People listen to their government, which should urge us to reuse these items that are too often thrown away after a single use.
