The family of a Hollywood man is demanding justice after their loved one was attacked by a dog, beaten and then stabbed to death in a savage group attack on the Walk of Fame last week.
Berry Le'Mar Henderson, 37, was attacked by a dog while waiting for a bus near the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Las Palmas Avenue around 3:30 p.m. on May 20, according to several of her family members and a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department.
Surveillance video captured at a nearby 7-Eleven and posted online by community activist Najee Ali shows Henderson running down Hollywood Boulevard, while the dog bites her ankles. According to the video, a group of men chase him and one can be seen holding a gun. The group then surrounds the victim across the street and can be seen punching and kicking him.
Los Angeles Police Officer Norma Eisenman, a department spokeswoman, said the victim suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at a hospital a short time later. Police arrested three suspects that day: Bruce Lamont Fuller Jr., Isaul Hernandez and Robert Anthony Garcia, Eisenman said.
Anthony allegedly punched the victim and hit her repeatedly with a “small bat,” Eisenman said. The dog's owner, Patrick Randall Perry, was arrested on May 28, according to Eisenman, who said detectives believe Perry stabbed the victim.
A man with the same name was arrested in the same area in 2024 for getting into a fight outside a Church of Scientology building on the Walk of Fame, according to a report from NBC Los Angeles. Police said Perry is 55 years old. The man described in the 2024 news story was 52 years old at the time.
The four men were arrested on suspicion of murder and are being held on a $2 million fine, Eisenman said. It was not immediately clear if a case had been filed with the Los Angeles County district attorney's office.

Henderson, who lived in downtown Los Angeles, was waiting for a bus when the deadly melee began, according to loved ones.
“My cousin was not the aggressor, my cousin was just here. He was running away. He was lying on the ground,” his cousin, Demeya Brewer, said during a vigil held in Hollywood on Friday afternoon, and later posted on Facebook.
At least one local activist said he had previously expressed concern about Perry and his dog. William Gude, better known online under the name “Film The Police LA,” claimed that Perry's dog had bitten him in the past.
Gude also sent the Los Angeles Police Department video of a man he identified as Perry threatening someone with a collapsible baton in 2024. The man in the video can be seen holding a dog on a leash that resembles the one captured on surveillance footage of Henderson's murder.
Police officers responded to Gude in 2024 telling him that an investigation had been opened. It was not immediately clear what happened to that investigation. Criminal court records show no recent charges against Perry.
Family members described Henderson as a happy-go-lucky man who “brought a smile” wherever he went.
“He was someone loved by a lot of family and friends. Anyone who knew Berry loved him. Everyone is really devastated by what happened to Berry because he's one of those cool guys. Berry doesn't cause trouble,” said his sister, Latoya Payne. “It's devastating… he was murdered. We just want justice for our brother.”
