Colorado mother accused of murdering 2 children, arrested in UK: police

A Colorado woman wanted on suspicion of killing her two young children and wounding a third was arrested Saturday in the United Kingdom, according to police.

Colorado Springs officials said Kimberlee Singler, 35, was wanted on a warrant for murder, attempted murder and child abuse.

Colorado Springs Police Department officers responded to reports of a burglary at an apartment around 12:30 a.m. on December 19. When they arrived, they discovered Singler’s 7-year-old son and his 9-year-old daughter were dead.

Singler and her 11-year-old daughter were also found injured at the scene and were transported to an area hospital for treatment.

“As the investigation of this case developed, it was determined that the initial robbery report was unfounded,” a police statement said.

The Associated Press reported that a department spokesperson said Singler initially cooperated with police but disappeared during the investigation.

Police were unable to locate or arrest Singler once an arrest warrant was obtained Tuesday on charges of murder and attempted murder.

Although he is not under surveillance, the spokesperson said, Singler was last seen in Colorado Springs on Dec. 23.

Police did not provide details about Singler’s arrest in the United Kingdom, but said they are working with multiple law enforcement agencies.

Initially, Singler was treated as a robbery victim. His 11-year-old daughter was hospitalized for a few days before being released, the spokesman told the AP, adding that she is recovering in Colorado Springs.

The children’s deaths came as Singler and her ex-husband were involved in an ongoing legal battle over paternity and other issues.
