Rihanna addresses 'I'm retired' and pregnancy rumors

Despite the drought of albums and the message her clothes project, Rihanna insists that she is not retired from music. She's not pregnant either, by the way.

The “Diamonds” and “Umbrella” singer caused a stir on the Internet last week after stepping out in a printed T-shirt dress that read “I'm Retired: This Is As Stylish As I Get.” Her wardrobe choice led her fan base, desperate for new music from the hitmaker and frantically trying to decode the message in her dress, to believe she had shut down her recording career.

Unfortunately, there's still new music on the horizon, and Riri has said that the only retirement she has planned at the moment is to stop dressing to the nines.

“That was just me looking forward. I'm not retired. “I just like that dress,” the 36-year-old told “Extra” on Monday. “I received it as a gift and I loved it… You didn't read the second line, I'm not retired, I'm just retired from dressing up; It is a great effort.”

To further tease her fans, the singer joked, “Wait for the 'I Quit' t-shirt.”

The singer, who has welcomed two children since 2022, last released an album in 2016. Her fans eagerly awaited the release of her album “R9,” and were slightly satisfied at the end of 2022 when the singer premiered the Oscar-nominated ballad “Lift Me Up” from the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” soundtrack. The multi-hyphenate has kept busy with other projects, including the expansion of her industry-changing makeup and skincare line Fenty Beauty, her newly launched Fenty Hair line, and growing her family with boyfriend ASAP Rocky.

She and the “Praise the Lord” rapper welcomed their first child, RZA Athelson Mayers, in May 2022 and their second, Riot Rose Mayers, aka the Super Bowl baby, in August 2023.

The “We Found Love” singer has praised motherhood ever since, recently telling E! News that she wouldn't mind adding “a spicy girl” to the mix, although not anytime soon.

“Can I get my abs back first?” she said. “I don't think I've ever had one, but still. Let me go to Carnival one summer? Please, one summer.”

Then, in an interview with “ET,” she said she “definitely” hopes to have more children, but dismissed speculation about an immediate third pregnancy: “I'm not pregnant, if that's what you're asking.”

A new aspect of her life that she will gladly talk about: her hair. The Grammy winner showed off her natural curls at a Fenty Hair launch party, where almost all of the aforementioned interviews took place, and she debuted a cropped blonde style.

“As I've evolved as a woman and even as an artist, hair has been a big part of that and a reflection of how I feel,” she said in a speech at an event in Los Angeles on Monday (via People). “So, it changes a lot and my hair changes a lot. When making this brand, I had to consider all of those things. I want to look stylish, but I want my hair to be healthy. How can I do that? All my products need to be strengthened and repaired while I am away fabulous.”
