Michael Bolton underwent emergency brain surgery over the holidays

Michael Bolton had a serious health problem during the holidays.

The “How Can We Be Lovers” hitmaker shared the health update via Facebook on Friday. “I want to start by wishing everyone a very happy and healthy new year! I also want to share that 2023 ended up presenting me with some very unexpected challenges,” he wrote.

“Just before the holidays, it was discovered that he had a brain tumor that required immediate surgery.” Bolton refrained from giving specifics, but said he is now recovering at home.

“Thanks to my incredible medical team, the surgery was a success. “I am now recovering at home and surrounded by the tremendous love and support of my family,” she continued. “Over the next few months, I will be dedicating my time and energy to my recovery, which means I will have to take a temporary break from touring.”

The “Said I Loved You… But I Lied” singer had tour dates in the United States, Canada, Switzerland and the United Kingdom from February to July and was expected to be in Connecticut in December. Bolton, 70, went on to say that he hates postponing shows, but hopes to return to the stage in the near future.

“It’s always the hardest thing for me to disappoint my fans or postpone a show, but rest assured that I’m working hard to speed up my recovery and get back to performing soon,” Bolton said. “I am beyond grateful for all the love and support you have so generously shown me over the years. Please know that I hold your positive messages in my heart and will give you more updates as soon as I can.”

The Grammy-winning artist was scheduled to perform at Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun casino on December 17, but postponed his show due to unspecified health issues.
