Centibillionaire Mukesh Ambani's wife Nita Ambani once revealed that she continued working after marrying the now richest person in Asia and that she was only paid INR 800 per month for that job.

An old clip of the Ambanis' interview with Indian actress and talk show host Simi Garewal has recently resurfaced in which Nita had revealed that she continued working after her marriage to the Reliance Industries chairman.

In the clip, Nita shared that she began her professional career as a teacher at Girasol Nursery a year after her marriage to Mukesh in 1985, after a three-week courtship.

Nita said she was paid INR 800 a month, before adding: “People used to laugh at me at that time, but I think that gave me a lot of satisfaction.”

The old clip from Garewal's show, “Rendezvous with Simi Garewal,” has garnered more than 3.3 million views on social media platform Instagram since it was shared.

The video resurfaced after the rich couple hosted lavish pre-wedding celebrations for their son Anant Ambani and his fiancée Radhika Merchant in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

The three-day event was attended by the world's richest entrepreneurs and celebrities, including Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, singer Rihanna and former White House adviser Ivanka Trump, among others.

The Ambanis reportedly spent around Rs 1,259 crore on the pre-wedding festivities, according to the daily mail.
