Washington DC shooting kills 2, wounds 5

Authorities reported early Sunday that at least two people were killed in a shooting in Washington, DC, and five others were injured as officials search for a suspect, urging citizens to help stop the criminal.

According to local American media reports, the shooting in Washington DC occurred around 3 a.m. near the intersection of 7th and P Street, in the northwest, several blocks from the White House.

Officials described the victims as adults and police have not released their status. It is still unknown how the shooting broke out.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), police said they had launched a search for a suspect in the attack, whom they described as a “B/M.” [Black male]”He is of medium build, wearing light pants and a blue shirt,” adding that he had last been seen on foot heading south.

Metropolitan Police Deputy Chief Executive Jeffrey Carroll told a news conference: “We ask anyone who may have any information related to this incident or who witnessed it to contact the Metropolitan Police Department.”

This shooting comes weeks after one person was shot to death and three others were wounded in a gun violence incident in Northeast Washington, DC in February, Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officials said.

When officers arrived at the 1200 block of Raum Street, Northeast, they found one injured man inside and another outside.
