Dubai: United States approved the sale of advanced military teams to Qatar, valued at almost $ 2 billion.

According to the Defenda de Safety Agency (DSCA), the agreement, officially with an official value of $ 1.96 billion, includes sophisticated drones, bombs and advanced defense systems to reinforce Qatar military capabilities.

The agreement includes the sale of eight MQ-9B drones, guided bombs for 500 pound precision, radar systems, satellite communication systems and advanced orientation equipment.

To guarantee optimal use of military hardware, the agreement also includes training and technical support for Qatar personnel, reads the statement.

The DSCA, which supervises the sale of US military teams to foreign countries, stressed that the sale aims to improve the surveillance and defense capabilities of Qatar.

American officials said the team would help Qatar counteract regional security threats and strengthen the protection of their territorial integrity.

They have also emphasized that military sale would not disturb the balance of power in the region. They assured neighboring countries that the transaction is in line with the maintenance of regional stability.

According to the US Statement Department, the United States and Qatar have the following Defense Cooperation Agreements: 2012 General Military Information Security Agreement, Acquisition Agreement and Cross Service Agreement of 2013, Basic Exchange and 2013 Cooperation Agreement for Geospatial Intelligence, 2014 Defense Cooperation Agreement, 2016 Communications Introperability and Security Memorandum of the Agreement and Implementation Agreement of 2020.

Two main US defense companies, General Atomics and Lockheed Martin, will lead the production and supply of the team.
