Dominique P, a 71-year-old former employee of Electricité de France (EDF), will stand trial in Avignon for allegedly recruiting more than 70 strangers to rape his wife, who had been given chloroform along with an anti-anxiety drug. The telegraph reported.
He is accused of having planned a criminal act between 2011 and 2020. His trial will begin early on Monday and will last several months. Fifty of the 72 officials, firefighters and other professionals are involved. If found guilty, they could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison.
The victim, a woman in her 70s, will face her alleged attackers for the first time. She had no idea of the abuse until her husband was arrested in September 2020.
When Dominique P. was arrested for filming women and girls in changing rooms with a pen containing a camera, police raided his home and found exploitative videos of his wife being raped.
A sample of his computer revealed 92 cases of rape involving 72 men. One of the accused, a firefighter, was in uniform during an attack and his computer was found to contain 728 images of child pornography.
Dominique P. confesses to injecting his wife with dopamine without her consent, but his defense was that “everyone knew about it.” Some of his co-defendants claimed they were told they were having consensual sex with a partner who watched pornography.
But, as experts have stated, the victim is not far from a coma, as she is in a state similar to sleep, so the court has to decide whether the accused were aware of their actions or not.
Furthermore, the rape and murder allegations made against Dominique P in 2000, 2001 and 2003 have not been proven true, but he has been proven guilty of attempted rape, which he committed in 1999 according to DNA. His lawyer has said he is prepared to face his wife and family over such serious allegations.
