A Lufthansa Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner overturned at Frankfurt airport on Thursday, injuring several staff members, the German airline said.

The incident occurred at 12:45 p.m. (10:45 GMT), just before the passengers boarded the plane, which was scheduled to fly to Los Angeles.

“While the plane was parked, the front landing gear unexpectedly retracted,” an airline spokeswoman said. AFP.

Cabin crew and ground staff were on board and several were injured and receiving medical treatment, the airline said. He did not specify how many were injured or how seriously.

Lufthansa said it was “reviewing the exact circumstances together with the relevant authorities.”

According to the Aerotelegraph website, the damaged plane is only a year old and was delivered to Lufthansa in January.

Another Lufthansa spokesperson said AFP Thursday afternoon that the injured, including two members of his crew, suffered only minor injuries.

The flight to Los Angeles was cancelled.

The plane is expected to be moved Thursday afternoon to a hangar “where further inspections will be conducted before the plane is repaired,” the airline added.
