A single ticket sold in Texas won the $810 million Mega Millions jackpot Tuesday night, making it the lottery's second-largest prize this year.
The winning numbers 1, 2, 16, 24, 66 and 6 were awarded on a quick-pick ticket sold at a Murphy USA gas station and convenience store in Sugar Land, Texas, a suburb of Houston.
Tuesday's winner can opt for an annuity that pays out over 30 years or claim a lump sum of $409.3 million.
According to Mega Millions officials, the prize is the largest ever won by a Texas lottery player. Overall, the Texas ticket is the seventh largest in Mega Millions history.

A ticket purchased Tuesday in the unincorporated town of Floriston, on the California-Nevada border near Truckee, matched five of six numbers and won a prize of $605,656. Other five-number winners came from Florida, New York and Washington and took home $1 million.
California public schools quietly profited from the lottery, raking in $66.8 million from jackpot-related sales, according to California Lottery spokeswoman Carolyn Becker.
The jackpot has grown since the last win on June 4, rolling over 27 times. Californians contributed $167 million in jackpot sales, Becker said, with about 40 percent going to schools.
The game, which costs $2 per individual ticket, is played in 45 states along with Washington, D.C. Drawings are held on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Tuesday's prize was only the third Mega Millions jackpot won this year.
By comparison, Friday's Mega Millions jackpot is estimated to be $20 million.
