The presumptive Republican candidate for the November elections, Donald Trump, arrived at the Manhattan court on Tuesday for the trial of his secret money case and did not miss the opportunity to fire a new salvo against the judge.
It is the second day of the criminal trial against the former president, since jury selection will also take place today. It will take one to two weeks to define the jurors.
The 77-year-old businessman was charged last March for the first time in a case that accused him of paying hush money to an adult film star, Stormy Daniels, and falsifying business records in 2016.
According to Daniels, they had a consensual sexual interaction in 2006, after he married Melania Trump.
In his comments, Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social Tuesday: “This Trump-hating, conflicted judge won't let me respond to people who are on TV lying and spewing hate all day.”
The former president continued: “He is trampling on my lawyers and my legal team. New York's justice system is being decimated by critics from around the world.”
Reiterating his claims about a rigged election, he further wrote: “I want to talk, or at least be able to respond. Electoral interference! BLUE AND UNCONSTITUTIONAL TRIAL! Remove the gag order!!!”
Under the gag order, Trump is not prohibited from speaking during the trial, as the order prohibits him from speaking about witnesses, jurors, prosecutors, court staff and relatives of prosecutors, court staff and the Manhattan district attorney, according to cnn.
