Dallas hosts poetry exhibition and fundraiser for the Edhi Foundation

DALLAS: The power of poetry to inspire and uplift was celebrated at the launch ceremony and international exhibition of renowned poet Ghazala Habib's collection, “Lamkaan.”

Aftab Chaudhry, Consul General of Pakistan in Houston, stressed the importance of literature in promoting constructive activities and positive values ​​in society.

Chaudhry stressed the importance of mushairas and literary events to preserve and promote the language and culture. The event, which also raised funds for the Edhi Foundation, featured speakers such as Barkat Baseria, Maulana Aseel Khan and Iqbal Hassan, who praised the foundation’s extensive work for the welfare of humans and animals.

A documentary showcasing Edhi's services was screened and attendees made generous donations to the charity. Javed Anwar, a prominent American socialite and business magnate, announced a donation of $50,000 to the Edhi Foundation.

The book launch ceremony was graced by noted poets Manzar Bhupali, Wasi Shah and Dr Amir Qureshi, who praised Ghazala’s poetry for its powerful voice, social awareness and love for Kashmir.

The event, organised by Ghazala, was attended by distinguished guests including Dr Asif Qadeer, Aqeel Ashraf, Farhan Syed, Nader Darrani and Fatima Zahra Jabeen.
