The images show a silver sedan with a severely damaged front end lodged completely inside the emergency room lobby. Video footage captures the destruction of waiting room chairs before the car comes to a stop in a hallway near a reception desk.

Fortunately, the emergency room was relatively empty when the accident occurred, although staff worked diligently to help those affected. Of the injured, one individual was treated at the hospital, while two adults and two children were taken to other medical facilities.

Captain Christa Stedman of Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services noted the severity of the injuries: one child faced critical, life-threatening conditions and one adult suffered serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.

Dr. Peter D. Young, the hospital's medical director, said eight patients receiving treatment at the center were transferred to other facilities because of the incident.

Despite damage to the emergency room doors and aquarium, the building overall remained in good condition. Texas Governor Greg Abbott expressed his condolences and assured his support, emphasizing collaboration between state and local authorities to address any needs that arise in the wake of the tragedy.

St. David's North Austin Medical Center, a 441-bed acute care facility, offers a variety of specialized services, including maternity care, surgeries and 24-hour emergency care.
