Scottie Scheffler's arraignment following his arrest before the second round of the PGA Championship has been postponed from Tuesday to June 3.

Steve Romines, Scheffler's attorney, told ESPN that his client will plead not guilty to multiple charges stemming from what the golfer called a “huge misunderstanding” while attempting to enter Valhalla Golf Club before his round.

A conflict in Romines' schedule is the reason behind the delay, although Scheffler never attended the arraignment in Louisville to begin with.

It was quite a chaotic week at the second major of the season, as Scheffler was arrested outside Valhalla early Friday morning for not following police orders. A 69-year-old man, John Mills, was pronounced dead at the scene after being hit by a bus. Mills was working as a vendor in Valhalla for the tournament.

Scheffler was trying to enter the golf course when the incident occurred, and Detective Bryan Gillis allegedly tried to stop him from continuing. The officer says Scheffler accelerated her truck and stuck into it, causing him to be dragged and causing injuries.

They immediately asked Scheffler to exit his vehicle and handcuff him. They then took him to the police station and booked him. Scheffler, who was wearing an orange jumpsuit, was charged with second-degree assault on a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and ignoring the signals of an officer directing traffic.

Scheffler ended up returning in time for his second round. He finished tied eighth at 13 under, when Xander Schauffele's birdie on the 18th hole on Sunday gave him the first major victory of his career.

Speaking after finishing his tournament, Scheffler said he was “pretty tired”, although he was “proud of how he fought” during the week. He previously said it was obvious to him for the first time that he was stretching in prison, going through his normal routine before the second round.

Now, the arraignment may not be based on a report from No Laying Up, which stated Sunday that a source “familiar” with the thinking of the Jefferson County Prosecutors Office said they were planning to drop the charges.” hereinafter”. That could always change, but it can come to fruition.

A spokesperson for the Louisville Metro Police Department also told ESPN that Gillis did not activate his body camera video during the incident involving Scheffler.
