Huawei has just turned the script on folding phones, literally. The Chinese technological giant has launched the pure x, an elegant folding smartphone in a square shape with a wider screen, a powerful AI assistant and no Android from Google android in sight.

Presented on March 20 in Shenzhen, the Huawei Pura X begins at 7,499 yuan (around $ 1,037) and marks an important milestone for the company. It is the first telephone to run Harmonyos 5, the fully self -developed operating system of Huawei, indicating a complete rest of Android, and confidence in American technology.

A turning phone, but do it for par

At first glance, the pure x looks like your regular phone: small, square and friendly for the pocket when it is closed. But once open, it reveals an internal 6.3 -inch screen with an unusual 16:10 appearance ratio that gives users more space on the screen than they are accustomed. The exterior screen is a 3.5 -inch square screen that allows you to check messages, take calls or take photos without displaying the device.

Fed by harmony, no Android

The Pura X is Huawei's first phone to completely leave Android, launching in its place with Harmonyos 5, the latest version of its internal operating system.

The turn marks a bold movement for Huawei, which has been under the sanctions of the United States since 2019 and has separated from Google services. The device also debuts Xiaoyi's assistant, Huawei driven by his Pangu model and improved by Deepseek AI. You can do everything from voice commands to next generation characteristics, such as turns of the eye tracking page.

Serious cameras and battery life

Under the hood, the pure x carries a battery of 4,720 million hours with fast charging of 66 watts and 40 w wireless load. It admits Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC, and the collector's edition includes satellite communication support.

For photo lovers, you get a 50MP main sensor, a 40MP wide lens, an 3.5xy optical zoom a dedicated color sensor, all optimized by Huawei image technology. Whether bent or deployed, you can capture pro-degrade photos and 4K video.

The biggest image

For Huawei, the pure x is not just another phone, it is a statement. The company is completely moving away from Android, betting on its own software and Ia. The pure x comes in several elegant options: Moon Shadow Gray, Zero White, Phantom Night Black and two collection editions with more premium finishes and up to 1 TB of storage. The highest -end version exceeds 9,999 yuan (around $ 1,500).

Although the pure X is currently exclusive to China, given its bold design and independence of the software, it is a device that the global market will be observing closely.
