Letters to the Editor: Altadena has two Little Leagues, and both gave strength to their families

to the editor: This article highlights the Central Altadena Little League's comeback season following the devastation of the 2025 Eaton Wildfire (“After the Los Angeles fires, the Altadena minor leagues almost failed. Then they had the season of their lives.” May 13). It is an admirable story and my heart goes out to all the children and families who lost their homes and everything they owned, including all that baseball equipment.

But it would have been nice if the Los Angeles Times recognized that Altadena is home to two minor leagues. While not as devastated, the children and families of East Altadena Little League were far from immune to the wildfire's passing. Many lost their homes or were displaced for months, depending on each other or the help of corporate donors for baseball equipment and support during that spring season.

For our children, baseball was a respite from the devastation of their homes or, in some cases, their schools, all of which were in Altadena.
