To the editor: Like many Americans, I am critical of the health insurance industry's notoriously predatory practices. But I feel total disgust for those who tolerate physical violence being imposed on their management. (“Luigi Mangione pleads not guilty to murder and weapons charges in death of UnitedHealthcare CEO,” December 23)
As repugnant as Luigi Mangione's alleged crime is, he absolutely deserves competent legal representation and a fair trial. But that doesn't entitle it to so much exciting media coverage.
Enough of repeatedly seeing Mangione's defiant and conceited image on television news and in newspaper photographs. The same goes for any pre-trial publicity about his biased ideological ideas.
Let the criminal proceedings take their course. Once Mangione has been tried, there will be ample relevant evidence available for the public to make a judgment about him.
