Social media users criticized Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson after he complained that Gov. Greg Abbott was bringing illegal immigrants into his city without telling him.
Johnson stood on Platform
The mayor’s posts were met with conservative users mocking him for not being more welcoming, as the city government has proclaimed Chicago a “sanctuary city.”
LIBERAL MAYORS PUSH BID FOR AN EMERGENCY DECLARATION AND ADDITIONAL FUNDING TO FACE THE MIGRANT CRISIS
The mayor wrote: “This morning, shortly after 1 am, a private Boeing 777 from San Antonio, Texas, landed at the Rockford/Chicago airport with 350 asylum seekers. There was no communication from Texas and authorities alerted the city of Chicago. in Rockford regarding the flight.”
In a later post, he added: “Upon landing, the asylum seekers were placed on buses chartered by Texas Governor Greg Abbott and dropped off in several surrounding suburbs, left to find their way into the city. This is the second recorded case of the Texas crisis: “Governor transports asylum seekers on a private plane.”
The posts did not seem to generate much sympathy from the Chicago government. Several users told Johnson to complain about the border policies of the Democratic Party and President Biden instead of Texas and other border states, which saw the highest monthly number of illegal southern border crossings in history.
Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, responded to Johnson by writing, “Do you need @JoeBiden’s phone number? I’m sure one of your Democratic senators or Congress bugs has it.”
Political strategist Logan Dobson criticized the mayor, writing: “You received exactly as much communication and warning about your arrival as Texas did. If you have a problem, take it up with the federal government, led by the chairman of your party.”

US-MEXICO MIGRATION TALKS INCLUDED BENEFITS OF ‘REGULARIZING’ ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS LIVING IN THE UNITED STATES
Miranda Devine of the New York Post commented: “He’s blaming the Texas state government, but this has the modus operandi of a Biden administration flight: private charter, 1 a.m., no communication. Hi Brandon, talk to your friend Joe “.
Political commentator and former US Congressional candidate Jack Lombardi II posted: “Stop the nonsense, Mayor. You’re trying to blame @GregAbbott_TX, but it’s the Biden administration that’s behind this.”
He continued: “Folks, Illinois lost a congressional seat in the last census and will lose another seat due to the mass exodus from Illinois. Democrats want the bodies in the next census so they don’t lose any more seats. Fewer seats = less federal influence. In “At this time, our border is open due to an ongoing health emergency order. This order gives the Biden administration legal authority to conduct such an event.”
“Mayor. It’s time to resign,” Lombardi added.
Johnson has been complaining about the effect of the immigration crisis on his city in recent months. Earlier this week, the mayor appeared on CNN Call Abbott bringing immigrants to Chicago “reckless” and “dangerous.” He also stated that he has been asking for “more resources” to deal with the surge in immigrants, which he added is putting the entire country “at stake.”
