The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Thursday against the Attorney General of the state of Hawaii in Wolford v. Lopez in a 6-3 decision, handing concealed weapon carriers a major victory in the blue state.

The Supreme Court sided with the plaintiff, who challenged Hawaii's state law requiring the owner's explicit permission to allow legal gun owners to bring firearms into public businesses.

Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson dissented.
