Pro-Palestinian protesters attempt to disrupt New Year’s Eve festivities in New York City and Boston.

Pro-Palestinian protesters took to the streets in American cities including New York and Boston on Sunday as revelers celebrated New Year’s Eve.

A large group of protesters gathered at Columbus Circle in New York City before marching down Central Park South and Fifth Avenue as they called for a ceasefire in the ongoing war in the Middle East between Israeli forces and terrorists from Hamas, WCBS-TV reported.

Protesters in New York City were seen carrying Palestinian flags and chanting: “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”

The protests came after New York City Mayor Eric Adams said he had ordered police to increase security for New Year’s Eve in Times Square amid near-daily protests in the city.

The group Shut it Down for Palestine appeared to be involved in at least some of the protests in New York City. The protests were part of the group’s demand for “an international call to action” during New Year’s celebrations in support of Palestinians in Gaza.

“We must continue to build momentum and increase pressure with more marches, strikes, sit-ins and other forms of direct action targeting political offices, companies and workplaces that finance, invest in and collaborate with the Israeli genocide and occupation,” he wrote. the group on its website.
