February 18, 2024 – The 66th annual Daytona 500 is scheduled.
February 19, 2023 – Ricky Stenhouse Jr. wins the 65th annual Daytona 500 in double overtime. It is the longest Daytona 500 in history with a record of 212 laps run.
“The Great American Race” has 200 laps and covers 500 miles.
February 22, 1959 – The first Daytona 500 takes place and Lee Petty defeats Johnny Beauchamp.
February 18, 2001 – Seven-time NASCAR Winston Cup champion Dale Earnhardt is killed in a crash on the final lap of the 43rd Daytona 500.
