Prince Harry says he is considering becoming a US citizen because life in America is 'amazing'

Prince Harry has revealed that he has considered becoming a US citizen and that his life in America is “amazing”.

The Duke of Sussex addressed the issue in an interview with Good Morning America published on Friday.

During the conversation, Harry also suggested that the King's illness could lead to a reconciliation with his father while discussing the monarch's cancer diagnosis.

Asked if he had thought about obtaining US citizenship, the duke said: “I have considered it, yes.”

He added: “American citizenship is an idea that has crossed my mind, but it is not a high priority at this time.”

When asked how he enjoyed his life in America, he said: “It's amazing. “I love every day.”

However, he stopped short of saying that he “feels American” when asked by Will Reeve.

Harry left the United Kingdom shortly after he and his wife Meghan Markle's decision to step back as senior members of the royal family in January 2020.

They now live in Montecito, California with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Friday's report is the first interview he has conducted since the Duke's whirlwind visit to see his father last week in London, in which Harry cleared his schedule to fly more than 5,000 miles to see the King just one day after that his cancer diagnosis be revealed to the public. .

Harry arrived at Clarence House to see Charles on Tuesday afternoon for a meeting that lasted less than an hour. He then spent the night in a London hotel before returning to the United States 26 hours after landing, notably without seeing his brother, Prince William.

In the American breakfast show interview, Harry said he “loves my family” and was “grateful” to be able to spend time with his father last week.

The meeting sparked speculation that the two men, estranged since the duke stepped down as a royal, could be on the verge of rebuilding their relationship.

It was suggested in the interview that a family illness could have a “reunification effect”, and when Harry was asked “is that possible in this case?” He replied, “Yes, I am sure.”
