When one thinks about Bollywood and fitness, one name immediately pops up: Malaika Arora. The model, actress and VJ has established herself as a fitness enthusiast over the years. Arora regularly shares yoga videos with her 18.8 million Instagram followers. Most recently, she shared a video of herself that showed her doing yoga poses using a wall to support her poses.
In the short clip, Arora demonstrated over 10 yoga poses on the wall. These were: an extended triangle pose, straight plank, low plank, one-leg headstand, wall headstand, a variation of Marjariasana, Salabhasana, wall crunches, up plank pose, bridge of the hips with abdominals, bridge abdominals and variation of the shoulder posture.
With this video, he showed that you don't need a lot of fancy equipment to do yoga. Just a wall and good yoga knowledge are enough to make a perfect yoga routine. She apparently wore a black sports bralette and black biker shorts that emphasized his toned and fit body, even at the age of 50. While sharing the yoga video on the wall, she wrote, “Heaven above, earth below, inner peace.” This video has garnered over 53,000 likes since it was shared on May 1. One Instagram user commented: “I would love to do this under your direction.”
In a 2021 interview with The Statesman, Arora said that her favorite exercise is yoga and that she practices at least 60 minutes of yoga every day. The Chaiyya Chaiyya star said: “I start the day with a good morning yoga session and then go out and do a mix of other physical activities, plus HIIT, walking, running, swimming etc.” Despite being a fitness fanatic, Arora said that she does not believe in a strict diet. She explained: “I eat what my body demands and what my mind desires, of course in moderation.”
Arora took her love for yoga a step further when she co-founded the Diva Yoga studio, which has several branches in Mumbai and Chennai. While speaking to Elle about what inspired her to start a yoga studio, Arora said, “I was introduced to yoga years ago when I suffered an injury and since then my love affair with it has only gotten stronger. So when I was presented with the opportunity to be a part of Diva Yoga, I jumped at it. “It aligns with my beliefs about fitness, my love for yoga, and most importantly, I always wanted to create a yoga studio dedicated to women.”
