George Clooney and Brad Pitt play problem solvers in 'Wolfs'

George Clooney has set the record straight on a new claim about his and Brad Pitt's salary for their new film Wolves.

In a The New York Times The article reported that Pitt and Clooney were each paid more than $35 million for the film, in which they play competing crime problem-solvers who are accidentally assigned to the same job.

The duo attended the film's premiere at the Venice Film Festival, where they also held a press conference for Jon Watt's action comedy.

Commenting on the claim about his salary, Clooney told reporters: “[It was] “It's an interesting article and whatever their source was for determining our pay, it's millions and millions and millions of dollars less than what was reported. And I only say that because I think it's bad for our industry if that's what people think is the standard for pay.”

“I think that’s terrible. It will make it impossible to make films,” he said.

The actor also shared that both he and the SeveOne star gave back part of his salary after learning that the film lost a theatrical release deal. Now, it will only be released in “a couple hundred theaters.”

He continued: “Yes, we wanted it to be released. [in theaters]We've had some bumps in the road, that happens.”

“There are elements of this that we’re figuring out. You’re all in this too. We’re all in this industry and we’re trying to find our way after COVID and everything else, and so there are some bumps in the road. It’s a bummer, of course, but on the other hand, a lot of people are going to see the movie and we’re going to have a release in a few hundred theaters, so we’re going to have a release. But yeah, it would have been nice if we had a wide release,” he added.

George Clooney and Brad Pitt star Wolves will hit select theaters on September 20 and stream on AppleTV+ beginning September 27.
