At least 30 passengers on board a Boeing plane were injured after it experienced violent turbulence en route from Spain to Uruguay on Monday. Daily Express reported.

Passengers have posted terrifying footage from the ill-fated Air Europa flight UX045 showing the harrowing moment severe turbulence over the Atlantic caused chaos in the cabin.

As a result, a passenger who was not wearing a seat belt was thrown into the overhead luggage compartment.

A video of the dramatic scene shows the passenger's legs sticking out of the overhead compartment.

Following the incident, Air Europa issued a statement: “The plane landed normally and the injuries of varying severity that were reported are already being treated.”

During the terrifying experience on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, blood covered the interior after 30 passengers were injured.

Before the plane entered the turbulence zone, the pilot had instructed passengers to take their seats and fasten their seat belts. The disturbance was minor at first, but quickly became more severe when the Boeing plane experienced a significant dive.

The ordeal lasted only a few seconds but resulted in chaotic scenes and numerous injuries.

The Uruguayan foreign minister confirmed that the aircraft made an emergency landing in Natal, where the 30 injured were transferred to the Monsenhor Walfredo Gurgel Hospital for medical attention.

Heartbreaking footage shared online by passengers showed cabin panels torn from the ceiling as a result of the severe turbulence.

One shocked passenger said: “Those who were not wearing seatbelts flew off and some were stuck to the ceiling.”
