'Traitors' stars share stories behind the season's biggest moments

“The Traitors,” a huge streaming hit for Peacock, became a social media sensation in its second season. This is partly due to the drama inherent in the game, a variation of the Mafia role-playing game in which participants attempt to mock each other as “traitors” or “loyalists.” The contestants are “killed” (sent home) by the former or “defeated” while the latter try to eliminate their enemies. An all-star cast of reality competition veterans included fan favorites from “Survivor,” “Big Brother” and “The Challenge,” who faced off against celebrities from “Real Housewives,” “Below Deck” and “Love Island.” ”, among other franchises. . Five contestants shared their biggest moment from a season that kept viewers excited from start to finish.

Kate Chastain

In a surprise to competitors and viewers, the season 1 star returned in the fifth episode of season 2. She was recruited as a traitor towards the end of her career.

“I think when I became a traitor, it was a big twist in the game for everyone, whether they knew it or not,” Chastain says. Before she was a traitor, he wondered what that would be like. And when he actually became one, he found it harder than he imagined. She believes that she was “surely a stronger believer than the traitor.”

Season 1's cast members liked each other more, “which I think made it less funny because every accusation felt more like a betrayal,” he says. “In the second season I felt like people were having fun, but they were also playing. Generally, no one took anything too personally.”

Dan Gheesling

Gheesling, winner of “Big Brother” season 10 and runner-up of season 14, was cast as a traitor, along with Parvati Shallow and Phaedra Parks.

“Me chasing Phaedra will definitely be the most memorable thing I've ever been involved with,” Gheesling says. “From the audience's point of view, I think it was a great moment on the show.” Watching Parks defeat him (someone who “has never been ejected from a game or even voted against him”) was wildly entertaining, he says.

Shallow Parvati

Shallow is a legendary “Survivor” contestant, appearing on the show five times and coming in second place on “Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains.”

For her, the greatest moment of the “Traitors” was the failed assassination of Bergie Bergersen. “I was with Dan at the time, and Bergie was in the group of people who could possibly have a shield. [to protect them in the game]. and Pedro [Weber] “He lied to Dan and me, saying that he had the shield, and that it was like a little trap.” Shallow thought Weber was lying and told Gheesling and Parks that they should assassinate someone who wasn't in that group of people who had the shield. Gheesling, however, was committed to assassinating Bergersen. “I knew it was going to be a battle to get him out of that idea and get him to change his mind,” Shallow said. “And I gave in. And in the morning, when Bergie walked through the door at breakfast, my heart sank because I knew it was going to be very difficult for me to get out of that.”

Peter Weber

Weber, an airline pilot, appeared on season 15 of “The Bachelorette” and then graduated from “The Bachelor” in 2019.

“It was my coming-out party to prove that I deserve to be there with all these players,” Weber says. He remembers doing the shield block game with Bergersen. “We kind of walked Parvati and Dan into a little bit of a trap, and there was a lot of luck there,” he says, adding, “To see that kind of play out exactly how I expected it to play out and give us the evidence essentially put a lot of emphasis on the traitors.” “I think for me that was probably my biggest point in the game, and it did a lot for me.”

Trishelle Cannatella

After appearing on “The Real World: Las Vegas,” the Louisiana native has been on five seasons of the MTV competitive series “The Challenge.”

His biggest moment: “When I finally looked around and all the people in my alliance that I was working with were gone and I was still there, and I had to completely pivot and adapt my game,” Cannatella says. “I found out I was capable of doing that. I was really proud of myself. And also, I think having confidence in a room full of people who are extremely intelligent and poised, I think all of that helped me a lot too, because I knew that when I first went to the castle, I was one of the less famous ones. people from there or well known. But I didn't want to let anyone intimidate me.”
