Jenna Bush Hager has revealed the cute nickname her children give her.
If your own children have ever given you an embarrassing nickname, the news anchor knows exactly how you feel.
He Today with Jenna and Sheinelle The co-host revealed on Wednesday's episode that her three children, Mila, 13, Poppy, 10, and Hal, 6, have started calling her “Biggie.”
And she's not crazy about that.
“They call me Biggie,” Hager told co-host Sheinelle Jones.
“They say, 'Okay, Biggie!' And I said, 'Excuse me?' They're like, 'Whatever, Biggie!'”
The 44-year-old, who shares her children with her husband Henry Chase Hager, said the children brought the nickname home and she wishes it had been left at the door.
It gets worse.
It turns out that the term is an abbreviation for “Big Back,” a slang phrase that Mila has apparently condensed into a single delinquent word.
When Jones found out where it came from, he said it made the whole thing worse.
His initial reaction, “I've never heard that. That hurts my feelings,” was possibly the most relatable response of the segment.
Hager admitted he had a difficult reaction at first.
“At first, part of me figured out that it was… I like humor in words, so I thought, 'Oh, that's creative,'” he said.
But the fun didn't last long, especially when he began to imagine the nickname taking on a life of its own. “Stop calling everyone Biggie. It's going to spread,” he warned his daughter.
His biggest worry, however, is that six-year-old Hal will accidentally bring him into the classroom.
“I said, 'Mila, stop saying this. Hal will go to school and his teacher will say, 'Now, Hal, please turn in your homework.'”
And he'll be like, 'No way, Biggie!'” It's the kind of scenario that's fun until it actually happens.
This isn't the first time Mila has firmly put her mother in her place.
Last month, Hager revealed that his oldest son effectively banned him from attending volleyball games after too many excited moments on the sidelines.
“My son kicked me out,” she said, or more precisely, she was placed in what she called a “free zone” after letting out an ill-timed cheer in the middle of the game.
“The score was 6-7, and I said, 'Six seven!'” he recalled, before mimicking the icy look Mila gave him.
He ended up attending only one game all season and now hopes to “thaw out” in time for next year.
Biggie, it seems, has some things to fix.
