Sylvester Stallone pays tribute to his 'Rocky' co-star Carl Weathers

Sylvester Stallone just took a trip down memory lane to recount his past with Rocky co-star Carl Weathers.

For those who don't know, Weathers passed away due to atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease in his sleep on February 1, 2024. He was around 76 years old at the time.

For this tribute, he recounted Weathers' experience auditioning for the role and told it all to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show.

He also struck a chord after admitting that the news of Weathers' death came as a shock to him.

So much so that the actor was even quoted as saying, “Rocky was a collection of really great actors, almost born to play those roles.”

“I couldn't fill that place. [for Apollo Creed] because it required incredible athleticism, intelligence, spirit, talent and speed. [Weathers] I had everything. I mean, she had it all.”

By the time Weathers arrived at the audition stage, Stallone admits his co-star already seemed to be in a pretty bad mood.

This was around the same time he also took off his shirt and caused Stallone to wonder, “Oh my God, am I a problem? Because at that moment I looked like Pooh Bear, and he looked like Adonis. He shot me about three times in the forehead and I said, 'Hired!' He loved him. “I couldn’t have done it without him.”
