Sporadic rains hit parts of Karachi as Cyclone Asna 'takes a westward turn'

Different parts of Karachi experienced intermittent rains on Saturday under the influence of Cyclonic Storm Asna in the Arabian Sea, which moved further westwards from the Sindh coast during the last six hours.

Areas that received moderate to heavy rainfall include Gurumandir, Numaish, Lasbela, Soldier Bazaar, Tariq Road, II Chundrigar Road and their adjoining areas.

In its alert issued at 3:25 pm today, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rain and thunderstorms with some heavy rain accompanied by strong winds in Karachi and other parts of Sindh.

The current weather conditions are the impact of the cyclonic storm which is located at a distance of about 300 km southwest of Karachi, 230 km south-southwest of Ormara and 300 km southeast of Gwadar.

The system is also expected to continue its trajectory west-southwestward and pose no threat of making landfall on any coast.
