SAG-AFTRA Slams AI-Powered Explicit Taylor Swift Photos in Scathing Statement
Recently, AI-generated sexually explicit photos of Taylor Swift went viral on X. They were widely condemned. Now, SAG-AFTRA has issued a statement on the issue.
Calling the deepfake images “disturbing, harmful and deeply worrying”, the actors union said: “The development and dissemination of fake images, especially those of a lewd nature, without someone's consent should be illegal.”
He continued: “As a society, it is within our power to control these technologies, but we must act now before it is too late.”
In the divisive photos, the Grammy winner appeared in a Kansas City Chiefs outfit, portraying the pop icon in compromising positions.
It comes after SAG-AFTRA advocated for a guardrail against artificial intelligence in its strike demands.
Similarly, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella reacted to Taylor's AI-powered photos, saying NBC“Yes, we have to act. I think we all benefit when the online world is a safe world.”
He added: “And that's why I don't think anyone wants an online world that's not completely safe for both content creators and content consumers. So I think it's incumbent on us to move quickly on this.”
