Ryan Reynolds saved Blake Lively's new movie Ends with us first before continuing with Deadpool and Wolverine promotions.
Blake, who hadn't released a movie since 2020 while raising her children, is now watching her new film Ends with us Leading the box office.
Sources revealed to Daily Mail that Blake, 36, nearly dodged “a disaster” when her husband Ryan, 47, rushed to her rescue by voluntarily rewriting a sensitive scene.
“He jumped in to help keep the movie from falling apart,” a source told the outlet. “Ryan has every right to defend his wife, especially when it comes to a project she's so passionate about.”
It all started when most of the cast mates felt abandoned by director Justin Baldoni, 40, including lead actress and producer Blake, while filming scenes of abusive behavior.
Baldoni was accused of focusing on “what he believed to be the abusive male point of view” and of having a very “chauvinistic” approach to the issue.
His refusal to “consider” his character's perspective prompted Ryan to step in and offer a rewritten scene, which challenged Baldoni's “chauvinistic” approach to the issue.
“Ryan knew when he saw the script that he needed help. Together with Blake, they made sure it was not only brilliant, but that it reflected what this story is about,” the outlet quoted the source as saying.
The source continued: “Ryan didn't want this to be a failure for anyone, especially his wife. It wasn't anything against Justin, but Justin took it personally and it's not Ryan's fault, nor does he have any apologies to offer.”
Despite its continued Deadpool and Wolverine At the time, Ryan felt he “owed” his wife any help she could to make the film his big break after years of sacrificing his career to support his family.
“He didn't get anything in return. He didn't want any recognition. He just wanted to see Blake's first big break in the business succeed.”
“He feels in many ways that Blake sacrificed a lot to raise his children while he was able to continue his dreams and he feels he owes her a lot.”
The couple have been promoting their film together at most red carpet events after recently welcoming their fourth child and first son, Olin.
