Following its agreement with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on the formation of the future government, the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) is expected to soon announce its candidates for the posts of Balochistan Chief Minister, Senate President and provincial governors. .

The development comes after the PPP reached an agreement with the PML-N to support the latter in forming the future government by voting for its prime ministerial candidate Shehbaz Sharif in exchange for key constitutional posts along with a coalition government. in Balochistan.

The party emerged as the “King's party” with its 54th National Assembly (NA) after neither the PML-N (79 AN seats) nor the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-backed independents (92 AN seats) ) managed to secure a simple majority to form their government at the Centre, allowing the PPP to negotiate the post of president among other key constitutional positions.

Sources say that the party has mulled over three names for the post of Balochistan chief minister, including Sadiq Imrani, Sanaullah Zehri and Sarfraz Bugti, and will announce the candidate for the post of chief executive of the province within the next 36 hours, reported News.

For the post of Senate president, the highest constitutional post after the president, the PPP is considering the names of party vice-president Yousuf Raza Gillani, Salim Mandviwalla, Farooq Naik and Sherry Rehman.

However, Gillani is likely to be the party's first choice for the post of Senate president, sources added.

If nominated by the party, the former prime minister, elected senator from Islamabad in 2021 as a joint opposition candidate, will have to vacate the Multan seat NA-148 that he won during the February 8 elections.

His youngest son is likely to run for the seat in the next by-election.

Also, PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, who is about to become the country's president for the second time, will announce the party's candidate for governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) today or tomorrow (Friday), according to the general secretary. party deputy. Abrar Saeed.

Inquiries are underway on the names of five KP gubernatorial candidates, including the party's central information secretary Faisal Karim Kundi, Shuja Khan, Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha, Humayun Khan and Zahir Ali Shah.

The PPP will take the final decision on its elections for Senate President and Punjab Governor before the newly elected members of the National Assembly and provincial assemblies take oath.

Additionally, Shazia Marri and Nafisa Shah's names are being considered for the post of NA Vice President.

Meanwhile, the PML-N is considering Ayaz Sadiq's name for the post of NA president.
