PM Shehbaz pays tribute to fallen heroes of Youm-e-Shuhada-e-Police

Paying tribute to the courage and persistence of the country's police force, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday lauded the sacrifices of martyred police officers in the line of duty.

In his statement marking the Youm-e-Shuhada-e Police Day, the prime minister said the sacrifices of the police force in the line of duty and eradicating crimes were unprecedented, adding that the day reminded them of the valour and bravery displayed by the force.

“In the fight against terrorism, the police force has always played a leading role and police personnel laid down their lives to secure and improve the future of the nation,” the prime minister was quoted as saying in a statement released by the media wing of the Prime Minister's Office today.

Prime Minister Shehbaz added that the entire nation was proud of its martyred police personnel and saluted them for their sacrifices.

He said it was the responsibility of the government to take care of the families of martyred officers and police personnel, and reiterated that no leniency would be tolerated in this regard.

The Prime Minister assured that the federal government will take all possible measures to provide education and health services to the children of the martyrs, adding that the bereaved families will be assisted in all possible ways.

During his tenure as Punjab Chief Minister, Chief Minister Shehbaz said a big and historic package was announced for the martyred police personnel.

President recognizes police role in fight against terrorism

Paying tribute to the martyrs of the police force, President Asif Ali Zardari praised their bravery and unparalleled sacrifices.

A statement issued by the Press Department of the President’s Secretariat said: “The entire nation is proud of its brave police force for their sacrifices. The police personnel laid down their lives while fighting terrorists and criminal elements on the frontline.”

In the statement, the President highlighted the role of the police force in achieving success in the fight against terrorism.

He added that soldiers of the force had been sacrificing their lives, fighting terrorists and anti-social elements in different parts of the country.

Mohsin Naqvi recalls the great sacrifices of police martyrs

Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi, while paying tribute to the police force, hailed the “eternal sacrifices” of its martyrs.

“Police martyrs are the pride of the entire nation. Police officers and youth have always been at the forefront of cracking down on crimes,” he said.

The Minister praised the exemplary services of the police in all provinces in establishing peace.

“Even in the war on terror, policemen and soldiers made history with their blood,” he said.

He also praised the courage of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ashraf Marth, who was shot dead on May 6, 1997 in Gujranwala. He was known for his leadership skills, commendable discharge of his responsibilities and courage.

Meanwhile, Naqvi also remembered the services of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Captain (retd) Syed Ahmed Mubeen Shaheed, who lost his life on February 13, 2017 in Lahore, when a demonstration in the city was hit by a powerful explosion.

KP Governor remembers policemen for their 'supreme sacrifices'

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, while paying tribute to the police force, said that the observance of the day informed about the great sacrifices of the police force in defence of the country. He also lauded the dedication, commitment and services of its officers and personnel who had laid down their lives to protect the motherland.

“We must also remember the families of the police martyrs who lost their loved ones for our safe and prosperous future,” the governor said, adding, “The police martyrs are our true heroes, and the entire nation holds their sacrifices in high regard.”

He said the day commemorating police martyrs reminds the nation of the selfless duties and supreme sacrifices offered by them.

Like other security forces, police officers and soldiers KP members have also led the fight against terrorism from the front and have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, Kundi said.

Despite limited resources, he added, KP police have fought all kinds of threats including terrorism with bravery and firmness and destroyed the nefarious designs of enemy forces.

Sindh Governor Tessori and Home Minister pay tribute

In his message for the day, Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori said that the eternal sacrifices of the police martyrs will always be remembered.

“The services of the police are commendable in maintaining peace in the country,” the Sindh Governor House spokesman quoted Tessori as saying.

The role of the police in the anti-terrorist campaign alongside security forces is important, the statement added.

Sindh Home Minister Zia Ul Hassan Lanjar, while sharing his statement on the occasion, said that it is the collective responsibility of all of us to celebrate Police Martyrs Day.

“The tribute to the sacrifices of police martyrs should be presented in a unique and dignified manner,” the minister said, adding that police martyrs and their achievements have become part of the golden history of Sindh Police.

The Sindh government, Lanjar said, is taking the lead in supporting and helping the heirs of the martyred policemen.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam says nation is proud of its martyrs

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, in her message to the martyrs, hailed their sacrifice and called it an asset that “will never be forgotten”.

“There will be no concessions when it comes to honouring the martyrs. The government is and will be with the families of the martyrs at all times,” he said in a statement.

Chief Minister Maryam said the police force is performing valuable tasks in all spheres and the government will fully discharge its duty to care for and serve the family of every martyr.
