New subscribers will pay more starting May 20

Sony PlayStation Plus price increase confirmed: new subscribers will pay more from May 20

Sony has confirmed a price increase for its PlayStation Plus subscription service.

Starting May 20, new subscribers in select regions will pay higher rates for one-month and three-month plans.

Fees have increased from $10 to $10.90, while the three-month subscription has increased from $25 to $27.99.

The cost increase will primarily affect the Essential subscription package, which is the basic subscription package required to play online multiplayer games on PS4 and PS5 consoles.

It remains to be seen if the other packages, such as the Extra and Premium packages, will see an increase. Sony has not yet commented on this development.

Existing subscribers do not have to pay more unless they upgrade their subscription level. However, subscribers in Türkiye and India will see immediate increases regardless of their status.

In fact, the growth comes just six months before the scheduled release of Grand Theft Auto VI, a game that will undoubtedly bring millions of new players to the world of online gaming, all of whom will require PlayStation Plus subscriptions in order to play GTA Online.
