Kate Middleton is expected to have special significance when choosing Prince George's birthday portrait.

The Princess of Wales, who beautifully captured a monochrome photograph of the future King on his 11th birthday, wanted the image to look regal.

Former royal photographer Ian Pelham-Turner reveals: “She obviously loves taking photographs, it's one of her biggest hobbies. She's a good photographer and has created some very interesting images in the past.

“The reality is that he likes to create images that, in black and white, are much more raw. It's a much more focused image.”

She also tells Express: “Sometimes colour can take away from the distant aspects of the photograph. Black and white is symbolic of showing the royal family. Just a straightforward image of them without any colour distraction.”

“When you go through that kind of college training, they usually use film cameras to start with and then move on to black and white. So for her, having a black and white image is something that's very fashionable. The idea is to produce an image that's quite elegant.

“The black and white photo also has a look of the former queen in the image, so again it could be nostalgia as it is made in black and white at the same time,” the expert noted.
