Blood and Cheese was promoted as a shockingly brutal scene in the House of the Dragon Second season. However, when it premiered it was watered down. One of its actors now explains why it was censored.
During an interview with Direct, Sam C. Wilson, who played Blood, acknowledged that some people are disappointed when he changes.
“I remember thinking that maybe this would be different than what some people expect, simply because I've read books that have been adapted. And I'm aware that there are people who stick to the text and are quite purist in that sense.”
“And that's totally fair. I totally understand that. And I understand that some people feel a little disappointed when things change like that.”
Explaining the reason for censoring the scene, Sam said: “What I hope people, I guess, can understand is, in a sense, the greater need to prevent children from being traumatised by acting in it.”
He continued: “And, in essence, doing our best, in good faith, to convey the horror of that scene without having to take it to the extremes that are in the book. I hope that people feel that I at least honored the way they imagined Blood and how horrible he is.”
