Henry Golding revealed that he has been reconnected with several of his “Asian crazy” Asian collaborators such as the successful film, based on the trilogy of author's book Kevin Kwan, gets a future on the small screen.
Golding, who played the Nick Young pink in the 2018 film, said the “Today” show on Wednesday that he recently met with Co -star Awkwafina and Gemma Chan, sometimes separated, and discussed the series currently in development in Max. “Everyone is excited,” he said.
The actor “Snake Eyes” and “Another simple favor” said he met Awkwafina “the other night” and “not long ago” reconnected with Chan and the co -manicist of “Locious Asian Asians” Adele Lim in London “to discuss where we headed to.”
“The crazy rich Asians,” directed by Jon M. Chu and co -written by Lim and Peter Chiarelli, promoted a cast of every Asian and it was a decisive moment for the voices surrendered in Hollywood. The film won almost $ 240 million worldwide with a $ 30 million budget and paved the way for a sequel based on Kwan's second book, “China Rich Girlfradia.”
In 2019, it was learned that the sequel of “crazy rich Asians” reached a significant obstacle when Lim left the project on salary disparity. The state of the second film has not been clear since then, but it seems that Lim will give “crazy rich Asians” another opportunity. Warner Bros. Discovery is the parent company of Max and Warner Bros. Pictures, which distributed the first film.
Lim is configured to produce, write and serve as showrunner in the Warner Bros. Kwan and Chu television project (through their electric production banner somewhere) they will return as executive producers. Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson will also produce executive products. It is not clear where the series will collect exactly, but it will be based on Kwan's books.
The series is in early development without casting agreements, but lim is interested in the original distribution members return for the program, The Times has learned. In his “Today” interview, Golding did not confirm whether he was officially on board, but said “We have so much clue to really share the world” of the “Asian Locos” franchise.
“I think we are really excited to show more,” he said.
