Has Meghan Markle's birthday left the royals scratching their heads?

Meghan Markle will spend another of her birthdays this year without an official wish from the Royal Family.

The Duchess of Sussex, who turns 43 this week, will not be receiving birthday wishes from her estranged in-laws as she will in 2023.

Speaking about why it would be inappropriate and insincere for the Royal Family to wish Meghan a happy birthday, expert Dr Tessa Dunlop says: “I think they probably felt it seemed a bit disingenuous, given that everyone knows they don't actually talk much. It would have seemed disingenuous and insincere.”

She told OK! that the family would also have a hard time deciding which photo to post of Meghan if they wanted to see her on Sunday.

This comes after the Duchess was seen speaking about protecting her children in a new interview with CBS Sunday Morning.

She acknowledged: “Our kids are young, they are three and five years old, they are amazing, but all we want to do as parents is protect them. And as we can see what is happening in the online space, we know there is a lot of work to be done there and we are happy to be able to be a part of making a change for good.”
