Brian Montana, a former guitarist of the Death Metal band from the posted bay area, was killed in a shooting with the police in southern San Francisco.
The incident occurred on April 28 after Montana, 60, faced a neighbor on the branches and leaves of the trees that fell into his courtyard, according to a press release from the police department of South San Francisco, he first reported in the San Mateo Daily Journal.
“The officers began to reach the scene at 5:55 pm and immediately requested additional units because the suspect with the firearm was now actively shooting at an occupied residence,” the statement said. “The suspect was replaced in an entrance road from that neighboring residence and hid its location behind the vehicles parked while it was still armed.
“For the next 25 minutes,” the launch continued, “the suspect armed himself with three different types of firearms (gun, shotgun and rifle) and fired the officers from different places inside the entrance road while looking for cover and concealment using both vehicles in the entrance and landscape path.”
Two officers at the scene returned the fire and killed Montana. A resident in the house that Montana fired suffered an injury that is not deadly in the shooting, and was taken to a local hospital to receive treatment. The officers were not injured.
San Mateo County Dist. Atty. Steve Wagstafffe told Daily Journal that “on the handle side, there was some alcohol involved. His death is a tragedy, but it is a luck that no one else was not beaten or injured more seriously.”
Montana briefly touched the pioneer of Death Metal from 1983 to 1984. The Official Instagram of Postseed published a photo of Montana with a brief memory.
“I feel that people should know that Brian Montana was a very pleasant guy. He was jovial and a gentleman,” the band wrote. “The Brian I Know is From When We Were Still Just Kids Back In The Beginning of Possessed. He was nothing like what what i'm seeing being written about Him. … Montana Family and Friends as this is to tragic time for them.
This is not the first tragic brush of the band with armed violence. Postseed vocalist Jeff Becerra, was paralyzed from the chest down after receiving a armed robbery in 1989. He has used a wheelchair since then, but in 2021, he first walked in decades with the help of robotic legs.
