LAHORE: Former actress and model Zainab Jamil suffered serious injuries after surviving a vicious gun attack carried out by masked men on her vehicle in Lahore DHA Phase IV. Geographic news reported on Friday.
Jamil, who gained fame from the first season of the famous drama. Khuda Aur MuhabbatHe was shot six times after two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle fired heavily at his vehicle as he headed to his salon on Wednesday.
The unidentified assailants managed to flee the scene of the crime.
She was immediately taken to a hospital in critical condition, however, she survived the assassination attempt.
After regaining consciousness in the hospital, the former actress recorded her statement in which she revealed that she was receiving murder threats while a threat letter was also sent to her salon.
Zainab further said that she did not know the attackers, however, it was obvious that this was a planned attack as the gunmen were apparently fully prepared to attack her vehicle on the way to her salon.
The police lodged a complaint against two unidentified men following a complaint from Zainab's uncle. Police personnel said they recovered a gun and a motorcycle at the crime scene.
They added that the culprits were being tracked through Safe City cameras and would soon be arrested.
