Dan Schneider refuted accusations of running a “toxic” workplace, which included sexualizing child actors on set.
The children's television producer is known for creating hit shows for Nickelodeon such as Amanda's show, Drake and Josh, Zoey 101, icarly, Victorious and Sam and Cat.
A spokesperson for Dan made a statement after his video with an underage girl, Amanda Bynes, appeared in a documentary series. Silence on the set: The dark side of children's television.
“Everything that happened on the shows Dan directed was carefully vetted by dozens of adults involved and approved by the network. “If there had been scenes or clothing that were inappropriate in any way, they would have been flagged and blocked by this multi-level scrutiny,” they stated.
Additionally, the representative also clarified that all scripts received approval from the network in both New York City and Los Angeles.
“Also, every day on each set, there were always parents, caregivers and friends watching the filming and rehearsals,” they further clarified.
Dan is also known for launching the careers of other celebrities who started out as child stars such as Kenan Thompson, Victoria Justice, Miranda Cosgrove, Jennette McCurdy and others.
