Cristiano Ronaldo will join the Portugal squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League

Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo will be back on the pitch with his national team as they prepare for upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Croatia and Scotland.

According GoalRonaldo managed to retain a place in Portugal's squad for the upcoming league despite his disappointing performance for the national team during Euro 2024.

The 39-year-old Al Nassr striker had a disappointing Euros this year, failing to score a goal as Portugal lost to France on penalties in the quarter-finals.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner remains Portugal's captain and is on course to win his 213th cap for his country, during which he has scored 130 goals, and will be looking to add to that tally as the campaign begins.

Furthermore, the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus star is reportedly set to play at the 2026 World Cup, so his continued selection may not be surprising.

Ronaldo is one of several attacking players that Roberto Martinez can choose from, including João Félix, Pedro Neto, Diogo Jota, Rafael Leao and Pedro Goncalves.

However, it is not yet known who will be selected.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo is on a break from the Saudi Pro League due to the upcoming international break. His next appearance in the tournament will be on September 5 against Croatia.
