Celine Dion opens up about her journey with stiff person syndrome and shares how she was first diagnosed.
Celine confessed that she should have reviewed it long before she finally did.
“I didn't take the time I should have stopped, take the time to figure it out,” the 56-year-old told Hoda Kotb.
He My heart Will Go On The hitmaker revealed that she first noticed the symptoms when she was caring for her cancer-stricken late husband, René Angélil.
“My husband was also fighting for his own life,” she recalls. “I had to raise my children, I had to hide. “I had to try to be a hero.”
She also shared that it took her time to accept what she felt: “Feeling like my body was abandoning me, holding on to my own dreams.”
The music legend realized shortly after that he needed to talk about his illness. She said: “I couldn't do this anymore. Lying for me, the burden was too much. Lying to the people who got me to where I am today, I couldn't do it anymore.”
Celine shares sons René-Charles, 23, and twins Nelson and Eddy, 13, with her late husband.
