Artists and politicians mourn the death of veteran actor Talat Hussain

Tributes and condolences began pouring in following the death of veteran Pakistani actor Talat Hussain this morning, when the much-celebrated figure passed away at the age of 83 after a prolonged illness.

Hussain's daughter Tazeen Hussain shared the news of his death with “deep pain and a very heavy heart” and asked people to pray for the actor's forgiveness.

Various figures from the entertainment industry and actors expressed their regret over the loss of a gem of an artist.

Famous actor Adnan Siddiqui reacted to Tazeen's post with a comment, saying a prayer and expressing deep grief over Hussain's demise.

He also offered his condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for Hussain's eternal peace.

“Talat Hussain Sahib's passing away feels like a personal loss. He was there not as a co-actor but as a guiding force when I did my first play, Khwabon Ki Zanjir. Another one of the greats is gone,” Siddiqui wrote separately in an X post.

Actors Laila Wasti, Shahzad Sheikh and Tooba Siddiqui also commented on the Instagram post, praying for the deceased and his family.

Meanwhile, seasoned actress Rubina Ashraf took to her Instagram to mourn the “big loss”. She shared a photo of Hussain and wrote that he was not only an accomplished actor but also a teacher and “an academy” where many of the industry's people took their first lessons from him.

“Another great missing,” Ashraf said, adding that Hussain will live in people's hearts forever.

Actress Bushra Ansari took to Instagram to offer her condolences. “What a loss,” she wrote in her post.

Meanwhile, talking to Geo News, Bushra said her heart is sad. “Talat was an elegant and civilized actor,” he said.

Praising his voice, he said Hussain used to speak beautifully. He added that he was a person with a great personality.

Actor Humayun Saeed expressed his grief on Instagram Stories and called Hussain “a legend and an icon”.

“Deeply saddened to hear of the passing away of Talat Hussain sahab… May Allah bless his soul,” Saeed wrote in the caption.

Meanwhile, Nabeel Zafar, who worked with Hussain in several popular drama serials in the late 1990s, said the veteran actor will be deeply missed.

Aijaz Aslam paid tribute to Hussain and said the late actor's legacy will live on through the lives he touched.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also joined the list of mourners offering her condolences and solidarity to Hussain's survivors.

“CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif, while paying tribute to the artistic services of Talat Hussain, said that Talat Hussain had a unique distinction in the art of acting,” read a statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office.

The deceased actor was buried after a funeral prayer this afternoon at the DHA in Karachi. Several showbiz personalities and politicians, including Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, attended the funeral.

Meanwhile, Senator Faisal Javed Khan expressed grief over Hussain's demise and said, “Talat sab, a legendary actor and academic, was a star whose brilliance, impeccable acting and natural expressions were recognizable across generations.”

Javed also recalled the time when he worked with Hussain on some dubbing projects.
