DETROIT — General Motors GMC on Monday introduced redesigned versions of its entry-level Terrain crossover, including a new standard “Elevation” model.

The compact crossover features a more rugged exterior design. It also has a new interior with 26-inch displays, including a 15-inch central touchscreen and an 11-inch driver information panel.

These screens are part of a suite of new safety and convenience features that come standard on the vehicle, including adaptive cruise control, heated front seats and enhanced automatic emergency braking. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which replicate phone apps for navigation and music, among other things, are also standard.

With the increase in standard features, GM is also simplifying the Terrain's model lineup, combining its entry-level “SLE” and “SLT” trim levels into the Elevation. The brand also uses the Elevation trim in other vehicles.

GM declined to disclose pricing for the redesigned Terrain, which is expected to begin arriving at GMC dealerships later this year. Current starting prices range from $30,000 to $40,000.

The Elevation trim will launch first, followed by off-road-inspired AT4 models and the luxurious Denali.

The Terrain is typically one of GMC's best-selling non-truck brands, which has vehicles ranging from compact crossovers to large pickup trucks and SUVs, including the GMC Hummer EV.

Sales of the Terrain, which is produced in Mexico, rose 31% year-over-year in the first half after a 17% decline in 2023.
