Saudi Arabia has unveiled 15 stadiums in and around the cities of Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar and Abha, which will host FIFA World Cup matches in 2034.
It is worth noting that a store will also be built at The Line in Neom, as reported by Dezeen.
With the country being the only bidder for the event, FIFA is set to confirm the Gulf nation as host of the 2034 event in December.
The names of the stadiums are as follows:
New Murabba Stadium, Riyadh
The new Murabba Stadium will be surrounded by numerous rock formations divided by canyons formed by the bark of an acacia tree.
“Its design replicates the layered, overlapping planes and flat, peeling texture of the native acacia tree bark,” according to the tender document.
Part of the Murabba Centre development will be the 45,000-seat stadium, which is being built in north-west Riyadh. In addition, a 400-metre-high cubic skyscraper called Mukaab will also be included in the development.
King Salman International Stadium, Riyadh
The King Salman International Stadium will be the largest stadium in the country when completed and is set to host the World Cup final. It will have a capacity of 92,000.
“The stadium will blend into the surrounding topography, with terrain and natural habitat forming part of the stadium roof,” the official presentation states.
“In addition to its aesthetic appeal, this design will provide effective shading and ventilation suited to the desert climate,” he added.
Roshn Stadium, Riyadh
Roshn Stadium will be built south of Riyadh as part of a larger residential neighbourhood and is designed to resemble numerous shards of glass rising into the air.
“The stadium is designed as a dynamic part of the urban fabric, encouraging the community to walk around and through the facility,” the proposal states.
Surrounded by the “crystalline” structure of the bowl, it will be located in a central plaza. The structure is a delicate lattice that will shine in the night sky.
