ITA Airways launches Rome-Toronto route – Business Traveler

ITA Airways has launched its first non-stop route to Canada, launching flights between Rome Fiumicino and Toronto Pearson International Airport.

The service initially operates six times a week, increasing daily between June and September and then falling back to five flights a week in October.

The current schedules are as follows:

  • Departs Rome Fiumicino at 10:15 a.m. (every day except Wednesday) and arrives in Toronto at 2:05 p.m.
  • It leaves Toronto at 4:40 p.m. and arrives in Rome at 7:15 a.m. the next day.

The flights are served by ITA A330-900 aircraft, which have 30 fully flat seats in business class, 24 in premium economy class and 237 in economy class.

The airline recently took delivery of four Airbus aircraft in one week, including an A330-900 owned by ITA Airways, as well as leased A321neo, A320neo and A220-100 aircraft.

The new service follows the launch of flights to Chicago last month and brings the airline's US and Canadian network to eight destinations.

This summer, ITA will also launch flights from Rome to Riyadh, Accra, Dakar, Kuwait City and Jeddah, taking its network to 57 destinations.

The airline will join Air Canada and Air Transat (seasonal) on the Rome-Toronto route.

Commenting on the news Emiliana Limosani, Chief Commercial Officer ITA Airways and CEO of Volare, said:

“The launch of ITA Airways flights between Canada and Italy comes in response to significant demand for travel between the two nations, driven in part by the significant Italian-Canadian population.

“With our direct flight, we plan to transport up to two million Italian-Canadian passengers traveling between Italy and Canada annually. Toronto, in particular, serves as a critical gateway for our airline, facilitating not only point-to-point travel but also connections to various destinations within both countries, serving both leisure and business travelers.

“This underlines ITA Airways' commitment to offering optimal travel solutions to our Customers. The new route has already achieved impressive results in terms of bookings, with more than 30,000 passengers booked between May and September.”
